The Contact Bar and Kitchen in Woolloomooloo required a solution to provide a more intimate dining atmosphere by asking customers to turn in mobile devices at the door in exchange for a free glass of wine… the solution was the Davell Mini Lockers.
Helping the restaurant’s vision come to life
The vision has come to life and it is generating a lot of interest! Customers now leave their phones in Davell’s specially designed, ultra-secure lockers upon arrival – with active conversation the order of the day, made easier with the peace of mind that all electronics are safely stored.
The “digital detox” dinner environment has been lauded by patrons and experts alike. “It makes you feel happy. An hour or two of straight communication is really refreshing,” Contact Bar and Kitchen diner Elizabeth Phillips told the Telegraph.

Increased demand for mobile phone lockers in workplaces
But it’s not only restaurants that are heeding the ‘no mobile phone’ move. Large corporate entities and Government departments also increasingly requesting that staff lock their phones away before they step into meetings or work environments so they aren’t distracted, or for security reasons.
Mini mobile phone lockers that charge phones while stored
In light of increased demand, Davell has designed and is now manufacturing mini lockers with built-in charging facilities for mobile phones.
Each compartment contains a 3-in-1 charging cable which supports USB Type C, Apple Lightning, and Micro USB devices that are able to charge multiple phones, in the same compartment, simultaneously.
The mobile phone powered lockers are available in units of 8, 16 or 24 charging compartments. The two bottom compartments provide service access to the power supply unit and enable replacement of USB charging leads.
The lockers can be designed with the aesthetics of the venue in mind and there is also the option of shatter resistant acrylic clear doors. Find out more about the lockers here.
