With the end of the year fast approaching, our wrap up of activities reveals a very positive year of growth and innovation.
After much planning and development, Davell Products began 2019 with the launch of a new responsive website, showcasing our product range, colour chart, locking options (many with instructional information), photo gallery and informative blogs.
In March, an independent Australia Made Survey revealed that 90% of Australians are more likely to buy products made in Australia. This was great news for Davell as we are proud of our Australian Made and Owned certification and our commitment to Australian manufacturing.
Schools in our spotlight
We also heralded the school year with a schoolbag weight warning, reminding parents of the burden school students bear each day and how school lockers could lighten their load.
Our case study of Abbotsleigh School explained our approach to customer service and the outcomes we achieve in terms of design, functionality and durability.
The dramatic increase in government restrictions on mobiles in schools focused our attention on providing smart storage solutions.
In July the drive to keep children free from mobile phones during school hours ramped up with the Victorian Government announcing a ban on mobiles in both primary and secondary schools. This followed earlier developments with NSW banning mobiles in state primary schools from January 2020.
Davell’s School Locker buying guide was updated throughout the year to reflect the new demand for banks of mobile-specific lockers in schools.
Davell’s technology partnership with StudentLocker, highlighted in September, made life much easier for school administrators by automating locker allocation tasks. The new streamlined system gave parents and students easier online processes and P&Cs / P&Fs the capacity to derive a passive income stream from locker hiring.
By October, the urgency of equipping schools with secure storage for mobile phone lockers became apparent as we reported, and the Victorian government released more detailed conditions including $12.4 million of funding to purchase or upgrade lockers to securely store mobile phones.
Lockers at leisure
Davell’s locker offerings work in many situations, including our Cube Lockers that suit shops, leisure centres, libraries, kindergartens and co-working office spaces because of their great colour combinations and design flexibility.
Our case study on Fitness Playground gyms featured the fit-out of these busy local gymnasiums with sturdy steel lockers that were described by director Serra Burmin, as “visually stunning, functional and very appealing”.
Wrapping up the year
At the close of the year we can happily report that Davell has never been busier, which, for a 73-year-old Australian company, is really a good news story.
I would like to thank our customers for their support and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Prosperous New Year and all of us at Davell look forward to working with you in 2020.
