New South Wales has just announced a ban on students using mobile devices during school hours in primary schools.
“These changes will provide clear boundaries in our schools to ensure technology remains an enabler, not a detractor,” said Premier Gladys Berejiklian in a media release from the NSW Department of Education.
High schools will also have a choice to opt in on a ban or restrict mobile device usage, meaning that mobile device storage solutions will now be relevant to ensure that phones are securely locked away during school hours.

While this ban applies to NSW public primary schools, an increasing number of non-government schools have already taken active steps and implemented policies including Newington College, Shore School and Tara Anglican College.
